The job of Paraprofessional was established for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional program within assigned classroom with specific responsibility for assisting in the supervision, care and instruction of special needs students in the regular classroom or in a self-contained classroom; assisting in implementing plans for instruction; monitoring student behavior during nonclassroom time; providing information to appropriate school personnel; and attending IEP meetings.

 

Minimum requirements:

 

High school diploma

Experience with students with social/emotional diagnosis preferred

Must acquire status as a Highly Qualified Paraprofessional

Participation, successful completion, and passing required professional development events, in-services, and trainings

Experience with children

Flexible and reliable

Ability to work effectively and regularly with a computer

Must have adequate verbal and written communication skills

Ability to function under the direction of the teacher

Possess good judgment

Ability to establish rapport with students

Ability to maintain positive relationships with program staff

Reliable means of transportation
