PURPOSE OF POSITION The job of Registered Nurse Educator was established for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional process by serving as an educator with specific responsibility for supervising adult students within the classroom and other assigned clinical areas; developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines; collaborating with other teachers, other professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students’ regarding instructional program and student progress.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Administers curriculum based nursing instruction program and assessments, etc. for the purpose of evaluating student competency levels.
- Assesses student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals for the purpose of providing feedback to students, and administration.
- Collaborates with administrators, instructional staff, other clinical personnel, and a variety of community resources for the purpose of improving the overall quality of program and student outcomes.
- Collect analyze and interpret data for the purpose of improving program, clinical facilities and accrediting agencies.
- Communicate with students regarding progress for the purpose of communicating expectations; student's achievements; developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals.
- Demonstrates methods required for specific classroom instruction, technological simulation, clinical assignments and skills for the purpose of providing an effective program addressing individual student and program technological requirements.
- Lead in the formulation and implementation of program policies as well as selection and promotion of students for the purpose of maintaining program standards.
- Maintain necessary documentation (e.g. policies, objectives, certifications, licensure, clearances, etc.) for the purpose of to comply with all accrediting agencies such as Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing, ACEN, etc.
- Manages students in a variety of educational environments (e.g. classroom, clinicals, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe, positive, and effective learning environment.
- Orient students and new employees for the purpose of familiarizing them with the program policies, procedures in classroom, labs and clinical areas.
- Prepares and maintains a variety of written materials and records (e.g. grades, attendance, anecdotal records, schedules, clinical records health requirements etc.) for the purpose of documenting student progress and meeting mandated requirements.
- Models conversation, manners, listening skills, etc. for the purpose of demonstrating appropriate social and interpersonal behavior. This may not be a complete itemization of all facets of this position. Page 2 of 3
- Participates in a variety of meetings (e.g. faculty, training, nursing organizational, etc) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform successfully.
- Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
- Reports incidents (e.g. fights, theft, suspected abuse, suspected substance abuse, unsafe conditions etc.) for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students, providing a positive learning environment and adhering to policies.
- Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
SKILLS are required to perform multiple, highly complex, technical tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: applying assessment instruments; operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications; and preparing and maintaining accurate records. KNOWLEDGE is required to perform algebra and/or geometry; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: appropriate codes, policies, regulations and/or laws; age appropriate activities; lesson plan requirements; and behavioral management strategies.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with a variety of data; and utilize specific, job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: establishing and maintaining constructive relationships; adapting to changing work priorities; maintaining confidentiality; exhibiting tact and patience; and working flexible hours.
Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing; Master’s degree preferred.
Certification Required: Current Pennsylvania RN License required
